2017 is Interlinkx CiC & CC Hackney's tenth year.

Due to Covid 19 virus all club face to face activities are suspended until further notice. Please check CC Hackney's website for news updates and how to stay in touch during this period.

The news in 2020 is that Interlinkx has been
converted from a community interest company
into a charitable incorporated organisation under the terms of the Charitable Incorporated Organisations (Conversion) Regulations. In the process of conversion, the organisation has changed its name to Cycling Club Hackney CIO. Meanwhile, the community amateur sports club called Cycling Club Hackney has been wound up and has gifted its assets to CC Hackney CiO

Interlinx CiC, was responsible for CC Hackney'sHQ/house and home as well as leading on fund raising
& community outreach. In 2017 was the ten year anniversary since founding in 2007. Our partner organisation
(CC Hackney) came into being later in the same year.

Win-win situation.

When a local catering magnate approached the Fawcett club asking if we could supply an unrideable machine for some temporary promotion we were happy to oblige.

Not all the cycles we collect are worth rebuilding and putting back into service as vehicles, but this ancient Carlton road frame - which has a new life as a temporary hoarding - produced a small, but not inconsiderable, donation to club funds.

Happy holidays to one and all, and if you find yourself in Ealing Broadway Maggie's Cafe Bar opens 9/1/14.

History lesson - many happy returns

Fawcett Bike club is set-up nicely for the xmas social tomorrow afternoon at Core Arts HQ in a joint party with Cycling Club Hackney. During tonight's session an original club member stepped in for a visit. Keshaun now 21 came in with his bike that was in need of a tune up and a squirt of WD40. Our lad is now working in youth development (Immediate Theatre & Voice of Youth) he is also coming along tomorrow where we are to talk more about the idea of him joining the team in order to get another session at Fawcett underway. We're thinking a Saturday morning bike club at 10am...look out for this one in 2014.

Fawcett Bike Club gets a direct funding boost

A busy and productive session in full swing ahead of the arrival of Fawcett Bike Club supporter Leslie from Hackney Homes

Young regular club member Tobi is eyeing our cheque as it was generously handed over by Les. We've have good responses to the idea of using some of this fund to organise and deliver a day trip bike ride & social before the end of summer.

Tonight - celebrate with our sponsors

Tonight - celebrate with our sponsors; Hackney Homes. Sonia Bradley (youth provision coordinator) is coming on site at Garage 8 along with other managers to get down and see how we are doing on the 'bike farm'. A cheque is to presented as a personal boost from a club fan at Hackney Homes - nice 1 !
Also in attendance will be Intelinkx CiC director and lead administrator Gilulaina Molinari. Bothe Giuliana & Sonia are keen to learn something this evening - how to do a road side puncture repair perhaps?

There will be food and drink and even a DJ performance from Kevin Cabey aka DJ JB (jazzy bike)

Come down, bring ya bike, we can fix it together.

Pump action advice - on going at Fawcett Bike Club

The demonstration method of pumping up a tyre in the video above has it's flaws.

You will observe a better more efficient floor pump technique in the clip below.

Our floor pump of choice is the Joe Blow

The portable hand held mini pump is good for the road but must be used in the right way...see link

Visit to Waltham Forest recycling plant & 'not a bike'

Volunteer member Christopher Adelana at the Waltham Forest recycling depot in a sea of bikes. He is pondering the task as hand; after dropping of the Fawett's scraped bikes and parts, Christopher took on this photo opportunity.

In the yard Geoffrey has a go an something that is not a bike.

BANNER ADVERT AT FAWCETT

Visible from the highroad, our new banner makes a good impression for passers by who may not know what's on at Fawcett garage 8 come Thursday evening 6-8pm.
Many thanks to Hackney Homes for providing us with this large advert.

Emanuel's bike - ready to go

Club regular Emanuel was happy about finally getting his bike together and proudly stood in front of the camera to show off his achievement.

I must be hearing things - a familiar voice, our cycle maintenance trainer Patrick Field perhaps?

    hairspray

Why do you find hairspray in a bicycle workshop?

When you want to remove some handlebar grips force a sharp object - a small screwdriver for example - between the bar and the inside of the grip. A shot of "that magic potion in a 12 ounce can" acts as a solvent for any glue and helps the grip slip off sweetly.

When you want to refit the grips the spray helps them slides on then dries for a permanent hold. It makes the place smell nice too.

    all together now....

    'the wrong key man'

Our reserve/breaking bikes were recently neatly stacked at the back of the store garage into an artistic formation by 'the wrong key man'. Although interesting to look at they are hard to get to now but we will have a new sort out as soon as we get the replacement lock keys.
